How do I keep my ISO Compliance Registers up to date?
ISO Compliance Updates made easy
Legislation and other Compliance Obligations are updated almost every day in some way, so it is important that you are able to keep up with the changes. In ISO Compliance Register, we make this as easy as possible for you.
When you log onto the system, the first thing that you will see is the Dashboard. In that dashboard, you will see two icons; one for New Legislation and one for Amended Requirements.
To keep your ISO Compliance Registers up to date, you need to make sure of three things:
- That any Requirements you know which apply to your Registers has been updated
- That any new Requirements which apply to your Registers has been added
- That any Requirements that no longer apply to your Registers has been removed
Updating your existing ISO Compliance Obligations
Great news! The ISO Compliance Tool will make sure that any updates and amends to legislation that is in your ISO Registers are kept up to date automatically. If there are amends from the Government, then these will be added into the Register.
What you will need to do is check that the controls and information that you have added are up to date. The most effective mechanism for this is the audit programme. It is worth your while to consider a programme that covers all the Compliance Requirements in each of your Registers over a period of time, and according to the level of risk that each one poses.
Remember, you can get a report of any updated (amended) legislation from the Dashboard. This is useful for when you are being audited to shop you know what the changes are.
Adding new ISO Compliance Obligations
On a monthly basis, all legislation that is added to the ISO Compliance Tool is listed in the ‘New Requirements’ report. You can get the full report going back 12 months and run through these at your leisure to see if they apply to your organisation.
If the new Requirements do apply to your organisation, then you can add them in the normal way (see Adding Requirements to the Register).
Removing Compliance Obligations that no longer apply
On a regular basis, and perhaps routinely as part of your Internal Audit Programme, you should review the Requirements in your Registers to ensure that any which no longer apply have been removed.
It is important to maintain older versions of your ISO Compliance Registers to show that you did consider those Requirements at the time they applied. This could be useful in a Court of Law in case you have a claim against your organisation.
